Four people aged 22 to 23, including a woman, were arrested by the gendarmerie at the Gonaguet Chapel (Dordogne), this Monday. The suspects were caught planting cannabis in an isolated area, reports France Bleu Périgord.

On the spot, the police discovered about forty plants of cannabis as well as gardening equipment. At the sight of the gendarmes, two men had fled on foot but finally surrendered in the evening while their accomplices had been placed in custody.

Tried in September

The respondents, long-time friends from Annesse-et-Beaulieu and Chancelade, told investigators "grow cannabis for their personal consumption and, beyond that, sell the weed harvested to make ends meet," says Sud Ouest, which revealed the case.

They all had no criminal record and were employed. Finally released the next day, three of them will have to appear in court in September. The fourth was exonerated by his friends and will not be prosecuted.
