The songwriters of IU's songs, who were embroiled in allegations of plagiarism, have directly denied the allegations.

Lee Min-so, the composer who wrote IU's "Good Day" and "Pink God," said on his social media account on Jan. 11, "I refuted the issue in 2013 when 'Pink God' was released, and I have refrained from further views because it is meaningless. However, I am cautiously writing about the recent criticism of artists who go beyond expansion and reproduction."

"When I was working on 'Good Day' and 'Pink God,' I didn't reference or have other people's songs in mind," he said, denying the allegations of plagiarism, adding, "I hope that I will not leave a scar on anyone's heart, especially in IU's heart, as the author of 'Pink God' and 'Good Day.'"

Lee Jong-hoon, who composed IU's "Beep Beep," also took to social media that day to take a stand on the allegations of plagiarism.

Lee Jong-hoon first said, "I can't help but regret that I chose the wrong target for the plagiarism accusation. Copyright (intellectual property) is the composer's domain, not the singer's. Even if you file a complaint or an accusation, it is appropriate for me as a composer to do it," he said, expressing regret that the accusation was made against IU and not against him as a composer.

"Plagiarism is a pro-confession offense, so a third-party complaint or accusation has no legal effect. This is clearly an attempt to smear the artist and not to bring any legal consequences," he said, questioning the intentions of the accuser.

In particular, he emphasized that "I did not plagiarize any other work while working on 'Beep Beep,'" and explained, "After listening to 'several' songs that 'claim' similarities are felt in YouTube weaving videos, apart from the characteristics of the music genre of hip-hop/R&B, I was able to confirm the differentiation and individuality in many aspects, such as chord progression, song structure, and arrangement of instrumental composition."

He said, "I wanted to confirm the contents of the complaint to determine the exact situation, but I was informed that it is difficult to confirm the details of the complaint because even Idam Entertainment has not yet obtained access to the complaint," adding, "If there is anything that needs my explanation in the future, I will explain it generously and correct this type of selling and misunderstanding even through legal procedures. This is not only a firm commitment to preserve the meaning of my creations, but also to improve the creative environment of existing artists in a slightly more desirable way."

Earlier, on the 3th, ordinary citizen A filed a police complaint against IU for violating the Copyright Act, raising allegations of plagiarism against six songs, including "Pink God", "Good Day", "Beep Peep", "Poor Woman", "Boo", and "Celebrity".

In response to the allegations, IU's agency EDAM Entertainment indirectly denied the allegations of plagiarism on the 8th, saying, "We have not been formally contacted by the investigative agency, and we have first become aware of the accusations through an article," and that "we will not stop taking strong responses to crimes such as indiscriminate third-party accusations and perpetration based on false facts."
