The Loirétains who regularly take the train to Nevers (Nièvre) are exasperated. As reported by La République du Centre on Wednesday, they have been facing for several months many delays and cancellations of trains from Paris.

Jean-Pierre Sueur, senator (PS) of Loiret, even wrote to the management of the SNCF to report the anger of users. He called for the Paris-Nevers-Clermont-Ferrand and Paris-Orleans-Limoges-Toulouse lines to be prioritized in the €100 billion plan to be released for rail transport by 2040.

Several explanations according to the SNCF

These delays and cancellations of serial trains would be linked to several problems, including the age of the Corail trains, some having been put into service 50 years ago, said the SNCF which ensures that the service should be improved by the end of the year. The regional director TER Centre Val de Loire also pointed the finger at the responsibility of the company responsible for the modernization work on the line.

Finally, the increasing number of incidents (malicious acts, collisions, etc.) would have a serious impact on highly congested rail traffic.
