A young man in his twenties was shot dead in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday on a deal point located in a city of Avignon (Vaucluse), AFP learned from the prosecutor's office.
The victim, born in 2003, was targeted around 00:30 Wednesday while she was on a deal point located in the city Monclar, south of Avignon, said the prosecutor of the Republic of Avignon Florence Galtier.
Four bullet holes
Hit by four bullet holes, the young man was transported to the hospital by people present on the scene. He died there ten minutes later, according to the same source, who added that the judicial police had been seized.
Several homicides have occurred in this district of Avignon, and more generally in the city and Vaucluse, in recent months. A man was killed on April 10 in the same Monclar neighborhood, where a teenager was also shot dead at the end of October 2022. Two young people aged 18 and 22 were shot dead in early December 2022 in the Saint-Jean district, also known to shelter drug trafficking.
On the evening of May 1, it was in Cavaillon that two men aged 20 and 26 were killed by gunfire, probably from a Kalashnikov, while they were in a vehicle near the station.
