The night of August 7 to 8 was particularly dark on the roads of Ille-et-Vilaine. The department's firefighters responded twice to violent accidents that claimed the lives of two young men.

The first intervention started shortly after 22:30 in the town of Vern-sur-Seiche, south of Rennes. For an undetermined reason, a motorist made a violent road exit with his car on the D86 leading to Chantepie. "It wrapped itself around a tree," firefighters said. Resuscitation attempts were unable to save the victim. The 19-year-old died at the scene.

Another car in the ditch

Firefighters and the Samu intervened two hours later for a second violent road exit in Saint-Aubin-des-Landes, near Châteaubourg. A car was found below the road at a place called Les Lacs shortly after 00:30. On board, a 25-year-old man was in cardiorespiratory arrest. He could not be resuscitated. The circumstances of the two tragedies are not yet known.
