Christie's auction house said yesterday that the 700-piece private jewelry collection owned by the late Austrian billionaire Heidi Horten, the largest and most expensive collection of its kind sold at auction in the world, could fetch more than $150 million.

Among the finest pieces are the 90-carat Briolet of India diamond necklace by Harry Winston, and the Sunrise Ruby necklace and a diamond ring by Cartier Jewellery Group worth up to $20 million.

The collection also includes more than 100 pieces of jewelry from Bulgari, which Horton bought from the early seventies until her death last year.

The Horton Group is set to surpass the sales record set by Elizabeth Taylor's Christie's in 2011 and the 2019 "Maharaja and Mughal Masterpiece" auction, the only two jewelry collections to have raised more than $100 million.
