An unexpected surprise for a gang that succeeded in stealing 200 luxury shoes

Thieves in Peru succeeded in a major robbery of a precious shoe store, through which they managed to steal approximately $ 13400,<> worth of shoes, only to find out later that everything that was stolen was not saleable in any way.

Various media outlets, including the BBC, reported on Thursday that unknown assailants broke into a shoe store in the central Peruvian city of Huancayo and stole 200 sneakers of precious quality, only to be surprised later that everything stolen was for the right foot.

Peruvian newspaper El Commercio reported on Tuesday, citing local media, that the theft totaled the equivalent of $13400,<> in local currency.

The BBC reported that the estimates came from the owner of the shoe store, who was not named.

Newspapers reported that surveillance camera footage at the store filmed the looting. The thieves were seen breaking the lock on their third attempt at dawn on Sunday morning, escaping with boxes of shoes on a tricycle. The robbery included sneakers from well-known international brands.

Local police chief Edwan Diaz told Peruvian media, "We have collected evidence at the scene. What is unusual about this theft is that the shoes that were stolen are all for the right foot only."

"With footage and fingerprints, we will be able to locate these thieves."
