The story of a police officer who evacuated from the 13th floor of a building where the fire broke out with an elderly woman in her 80s with limited mobility has been belatedly revealed.

According to the Busan National Police Agency on the 7th, a fire broke out on the top floor of a 15-story residential complex in Buk-gu, Busan at around 4:39 a.m. on the 15th of last month.

Detective Kim Dong-hee (37) of the Busan North Police Station, who responded to the report, went inside the building and knocked on the door one by one to inform residents of the fire in the early morning hours.

A resident who was evacuating under the guidance of the police approached Detective Kim and pointed to a generation, saying, "I have a grandmother who lives alone."

In the household pointed out by the resident, Mr. A (87), who has limited mobility, was using a walker to leave the door, and when Detective Kim saw this, he decided that he should carry Mr. A down.

This was not an easy decision. Mr. A's residence was located on the 13th floor, and the stairs were already filled with black smoke.

However, Detective Kim was able to safely rescue Mr. A, who has limited mobility, by descending the emergency stairs from the 13th floor to the first floor.

This story became known after the accident on the 1th of last month, when Mr. A's nursing home caregiver left a thank you note on the Busan Police Agency's online bulletin board after receiving a request from Mr. A, who had difficulty using a computer.

Detective Kim Dong-hee revealed, "The elevator stopped working due to the fire, and the fire was progressing, so it was an urgent moment," adding, "I thought I should carry my grandmother to the stairs because she had difficulty moving in a situation where there was danger."

He continued, "I usually work with the residents I meet at the site thinking that they are my family," adding, "I passed the police late and have not had a long career, but I will work harder because of this incident."
