Iraqi child dies for eating 3 cans of energy drinks

A 13-year-old Iraqi girl died after fainting after drinking three cans of an energy drink.

Despite being taken to a health center, the girl died, according to local media in Kirkuk province.

The Director General of the Kirkuk Health Department, Dr. Nabil Hamdi Bouchnak, confirmed the incident, and said: "Work is currently underway on autopsy and sending samples for examination, pending the results of laboratory tests to verify the cause of death."

"The information we have says she fainted after drinking 3 bottles of an energy drink, respectively, so we took samples of her blood to prove whether consuming this drink was the cause of death," Bouchnak said.

He continued: "Energy drinks in general are not a healthy option and are not recommended to drink, especially by young people and patients, as they contain large calories and ingredients such as caffeine, and their consumption may cause a lot and within a short period of time, in exposure to very critical health conditions and disorders."
