A 164-year-old man who threatened to kill the apartment manager who reported him for obstruction of duty and called the management office 60 times and verbally abused him has been sentenced to life in prison on appeal.

The Criminal Division 3 of the Suwon High Law (Judge Kim Dong-kyu Heo Yang-yun Won-ik-sun) sentenced Mr. A (69) to two years and six months in prison, the same as the first-instance verdict, on appeal of charges such as threatening retaliation, obstructing work, and violating the law on the punishment of stalking crimes.

The court ruled, "The defendant was punished with imprisonment for crimes such as obstructing work against the victim, the apartment manager, and repeatedly committed crimes of violence and obstruction of work against the victim and other management office employees without self-determination even though he was in the middle of the crime period."

"Despite this, no effort has been made to recover the damage," he said, explaining the reasons for the sentencing, saying, "The sentence of life imprisonment for the defendant is inevitable."

In November 1, Mr. A was dissatisfied that he was criminally punished for reporting by the director B at an apartment management office in Gyeonggi-do, where he resides, and showed Mr. B and others a bundle of 2,6 won money, saying, "I murder the director and carry the money to use it to fund his escape. I will burn (the management office)," he was accused of threatening to do.

In January last year, from about 2021 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the same day, he called the management office 5 times to make noise or swear at his work.

Mr. A made 1 phone calls to the management office in three months.

In addition, Mr. A is accused of disrupting work by causing a disturbance at a bar in Pyeongtaek in October 3, and threatening the owner by yelling at the owner who tried to report the incident to the police.
