Security camera images show the violent quake that affected Ishikawa prefecture, near the west-central coast of the island of Honsha. The investigations of the authorities are still ongoing and in the meantime the tsunami alert has returned. Government spokesman Hirokazu Matsuno told reporters that there is a great deal of effort to control any casualties. There are wounded. The magnitude 6.3 earthquake, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, later raised to 6.5, was recorded at a depth of 12 kilometers. Meanwhile, as a precaution, the Shinkansen superfast trains connecting Tokyo to Kanazawa have been suspended.
