The 56-year-old from Calolziocorte, in the province of Lecco, died after eating a poisonous flower.

The man, Stefano Bonacina, had prepared a soup with some vegetables and flowers similar to dandelion. Shortly after eating he felt sick, nauseous and stomach pains. Then he was hospitalized in Merate and transferred to the intensive care unit, where his condition worsened until his death in the night, most likely due to food poisoning. To kill him would have been some poisonous herbs that he had collected in the woods: toxic flowers, instead of dandelion which is edible. Investigations into the cause of death are ongoing.

Bewilderment in the village, where the man was well known. Passionate about football and collaborator of the Polisportiva di Foppenico, he leaves his wife and two children.
