Eight people were killed and 13 others injured in a gun attack in Serbia on Thursday evening. According to local media, the attack was carried out about 60 kilometers south of the capital Belgrade. The alleged 21-year-old perpetrator shot from a moving car with a rapid-fire weapon at a group of people and then fled, the public television channel RTS reported.

The scene of the action was the village of Dubona near the city of Mladenovac. The police launched a large-scale manhunt and tracked down his whereabouts. A large contingent of police forces had surrounded him, it said.

On Wednesday, a gun attack by a 13-year-old student shook Serbia. The teenager had shot nine people, including eight children, at his school in Belgrade. As a result, the government had imposed three days of national mourning and launched a debate about more restrictive gun laws.

Not far from Mladenovac, a villager shot dead 13 people in April. Among the dead were members of his family and neighbors.
