"Star Wars" icon Carrie Fisher has posthumously received a star on the famous "Walk of Fame" in Hollywood. Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd received the honor on Thursday alongside the "Star Wars" robots C-3PO and R2-D2 in Los Angeles. Carrie Fisher had become famous as Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" films.

The star is located just a few meters from the plaque of Mark Hamill, who played the Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars". The star of Fisher's mother Debbie Reynolds ("Gold Digger Molly", "Singin' in the Rain") is across the street, as the organizers had previously announced.

The American Fisher had died on December 27, 2016 at the age of 60, after she had suffered a heart attack a few days earlier during a flight from London to Los Angeles. Just one day later, her mother died at the age of 84.

The star ceremony on Thursday coincided with "Star Wars" Day, which is traditionally celebrated on May 4. The English pronunciation of the date ("May the Fourth") is reminiscent of the famous greeting "May the Force be with You" German from the Star Warriors saga.
