Kai, a member of the group EXO who announced the news of joining the military, showed tears during the live broadcast.
On March 3, Kai conducted a live broadcast on social media to communicate with fans. Kai, who continued the live broadcast by asking how he was doing with his fans, finally broke down in tears.
Kai said, "I also found out (about my enlistment) today. It was so sudden that (the fans) were worried. It's okay to go without rest, but I want to see the faces of the fans before I go. I'll miss you. I've never been through it, so I don't know how to prepare, but time will go by quickly and I'll be back soon, so I'm looking forward to it."
In particular, the regret was even greater as the complete activities of EXO were planned. Kai said, "I prepared a lot, but it's a shame. I'm upset that I can't show it, but I just have to go and show it. Where would Kai go? If you go, you won't fall off anymore. I'm going to do the best I can before I go."
SM Entertainment said in an official statement, "Kai was preparing for an EXO comeback scheduled for this year, but due to a recent change in the regulations of the Military Affairs Administration, he will enter the Army Training Center on May 5. After receiving basic military training, I was assigned to alternate service as a social security officer."
"Out of respect for Kai's wish to enter the hospital quietly on the day, the location and time of admission will not be disclosed. We will not be holding a separate event on the day, so we ask for your understanding."
EXO planned to complete its activities in about five years when Baekhyun was called up in February. However, Kai's military service disrupted his entire activities.
Kai becomes the sixth member of EXO to join the army after Xiumin, Dio, Suho, Chen, Baekhyun, and Chanyeol.
