During May 1st, the mobilization remained strong against the pension reform

The mobilization against the pension reform is not running out of steam. Even though the record levels of late January were not reached, opponents continued to take to the streets en masse on Monday. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 782,000 people demonstrated throughout the France, including 112,000 in Paris, during a "combative" May 1, marked by violence and an inter-union still united. The CGT claimed 2.3 million demonstrators, including 550,000 in Paris. The challenge for the unions now is to remain united as differences begin to emerge in the face of the executive's invitations to resume dialogue on other labour-related issues.

Healthcare workers not vaccinated against Covid-19 reinstated in mid-May

The page will soon be turned on a major controversy in France about vaccination against Covid-19. After almost two years of suspension, caregivers who had been suspended for lack of a complete vaccination schedule will be able to be reinstated, announced this weekend François Braun. The Minister of Health plans to issue a decree to this effect "mid-May". This decision comes after the favourable opinion of the High Authority for Health (HAS) given at the end of March to the lifting of the vaccination obligation against Covid-19 for caregivers and other professionals concerned.

Justice to deliver verdict on EDF's contested renationalisation

In the case of the renationalization of EDF, justice will play this Tuesday the game of "Fair price". The Paris Court of Appeal will indeed render its decision in the battle that has been going on for months between small shareholders and the French state. The main bone of contention is the price of 12 euros per share at which the State has decided to buy back from shareholders the shares it lacks to fully control the electrician. A price considered too low: the plaintiffs claim at least 15 euros. At the opening of the capital in 2005, the share had been sold for 32 euros, with a discount of 20% for employees at 25.60 euros.
