Last night (2nd), a factory in Jongno-gu, Seoul, caught fire, causing a commotion as people evacuated. In one case, a running truck caught fire due to cigarette butts discarded in the cargo hold.

At around 11:20 last night, a fire broke out in a metal foundry in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

The fire caused the emergency evacuation of five residents of the building and the burning of machinery and monitors inside the factory, causing property damage estimated at 5 million won by the fire department.

Fire authorities believe the fire started in an electric blast furnace that melts metal and are investigating the exact cause of the fire.

At around 5 p.m. yesterday, on a road in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, a recycling truck that was operating suddenly caught fire.

The fire was extinguished within 8 minutes of burning the entire vehicle, and the driver was immediately evacuated and no one was injured.

Fire officials said the fire, which started from a cigarette butt that had been dumped in a cargo box, is believed to have spread to the truck.

at around 20:7 p.m. yesterday, Mr. A, a building management employee in his 50s, fell into the elevator passage and died in an officetel in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

It is believed that Mr. A fell into a gap while trying to retrieve the remaining luggage after rescuing a resident trapped in a broken elevator and had an accident.
