The national trotting championship was punctuated by an unusual accident Sunday at the Cano racecourse, in the town of Séné (Morbihan), near Vannes. In the early afternoon, a horse got carried away during a race.

The rider was ejected from his sulky (small horse-drawn carriage) and the animal continued its path uncontrollably until it left the track, reports Le Télégramme. After breaking down several barriers, he hit a spectator.

The latter was taken care of by the emergency services. Fortunately, his injuries would only be slight. The horse was quickly subdued and returned to the stall. The rider was not injured.
