An extremely rare accident came to conclude the mass of forgiveness, Sunday, in the town of Lézardrieux (Côtes d'Armor), near Paimpol. Around 18 p.m., the bell of the chapel of Saint-Mathurin de Kermaria came off while a nun was ringing it by pulling on a rope, reports Le Télégramme. In her fall, the metal instrument weighing about thirty kilos hit the 80-year-old woman.

Injured in the head and arm, the victim was treated on the spot by firefighters and transported to hospital. The bell dated from 1891. The gendarmerie has opened an investigation to understand what may have happened.
