A 44-year-old man from Frankfurt an der Oder has barricaded himself in his apartment, threatened with armed force and triggered an operation by the special task force (SEK) of the police. Actually, a patrol was on Saturday evening because of loud dog barking and disturbance of the peace in the residential area, as the police announced on Monday.

A check of the owner of the apartment then revealed that there was an arrest warrant and that he had been issued by the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt am Main. The 44-year-old had not been able to pay a fine and therefore had to serve a substitute custodial sentence, said a police spokesman. However, the man did not open his apartment door. He said he was armed, had military training, and would kill anyone who entered his apartment. The SEK then entered the apartment and arrested the man.

"Unfortunately, during the operation, the shepherd dog in the apartment had to be shot by emergency services," the statement said. No people were injured.
