Hikers were camping at the foot of Nepal's Annapurna massif when a huge avalanche broke off the wall and tumbled towards the valley below.

The video, taken from the camp set up in a safe position, shows the gigantic clouds of ice produced by the avalanche in its path through the gully right in front of the hikers who are eventually wrapped.

Nature explorer Alina Pekova said she and her team were safe but that: "Annapurna, where we were, is considered one of the most dangerous mountains due to the frequent and powerful avalanches triggered by unstable weather."

In this area unfolds one of the most popular hiking routes in the Himalayas that allows you to admire the beautiful peaks of the massif, including Annapurna I which is the tenth highest peak on Earth with its 8,091 meters above sea level, from a privileged position.

The images date back to March 24 and in those days the massive snowfall and strong winds had warned hikers of the avalanche risk.

In early April, seven tourists died in the Indian Himalayan state of Sikkim due to an avalanche that struck near a mountain pass leading to Tibet.
