The story of "that day" in history that we should not forget is told by the "Jang Trio" Jang Hyun-sung, Jang Sung-kyu and Jang Do-yeon on SBS's "The Story of the Day That Bit the Tail" (hereinafter "Ko Ko Moo"). For those who missed the main broadcast, or for those who watched the broadcast but want to ponder the contents again, SBS Entertainment News has compiled it in one shot.
The story of "that day" that I want to tell you this time is "Take Me Out - Survival Coordinates, 27 Meters Underground," which aired on the 125th. The story featured footballer-turned-broadcaster Lee Dong-guk, actors Shin So-yul and Kim Bora. (The review is conducted in half-horse mode, in keeping with the characteristics of "Ko Ko Mu".)

on August 1967, 8, in Cheongyang, Chungnam. It's still a long way from sunrise, but the whole neighborhood is bright. I'm busy getting ready to go to work from door to door. Kim Chang-sun is also ready to leave the house. This is Mr. Changsun.

He is 36 years old. He's a father of three daughters, two sons, and five children. The first is 5 years old and the youngest is 13 years old. Before going to work, Mr. Changsun made a fortune telling for the day with a handicap. It's just for fun, but Changsun's expression is not very good. There are divinations that mean 'worry, worry' and 'darkness, night'. Plus, I have a dream at night.

At that time, he held out the lunch box prepared by his wife to Mr. Changsun. After opening it slightly, Changsun complained, "I know you don't like salty." The side dish he didn't like was in his lunch box. The dream is not good, the fortune is upset, and there are even side dishes that I don't like in the lunch box. It's a 'Bang Three-Stage Combo' from the morning. Changsun frowned and left the house to go to work.

The day dawned, and the eldest daughter, Jung Ok-yi, woke up and went outside to play with her friend. At that time, it was popular among the children in the neighborhood to play in the "wagon" that transported canned minerals from the mines. If there's a 'Gwangcha', you know what Jeong-ok's neighborhood is like, right? It is a mining town where there was a large gold mine called "Gubong Mine". Jeong-ok's dad, Changsun, is a miner.

This is the inside of a now-abandoned mine. Narrow shafts, boulders on all sides, wooden supports, groundwater flowing everywhere. Just looking at the pictures, it feels dark and dangerous, right? What if these mines collapsed? Dig a solid rock in the ground very deep, make a path in it, and make a shaft. erect supports so that the shaft does not collapse. This support blocks all the rock and dirt, but what if this support collapses? It's just a live burial.
The atmosphere in the mining town is ridiculous, and I checked from door to door that the miners returned home safely. As a result of the check, there was only one person trapped in the Gubong Mine, Jeong-ok and his father, Changsun. Worried about his dad, Jeong-ok burst into tears too. Mom went to the mine to find Dad, and Jung-Ok stayed home to take care of his younger siblings.
▲ The next day dawned without any news from a phone call
from 125 meters below the ground. I need to start the rescue operation quickly, but it's rather quiet. They don't have any rescue equipment. In addition, as the shaft collapsed, so did the cage that burned up and down. You can't even go underground to figure out what's going on. All you hear is, "We asked for rescue equipment and manpower, so let's wait a bit," and there is no sign of a rush on the part of the mining company.

In the 1960s, the mining industry in Korea was a real boom. With a large number of miners and a large amount of coal mining, it was the second largest mining industry in the world. Accidents happen so often, and every rescue operation costs too much money. Even if they tried to rescue them, they often rescued the bodies. So the company deliberately delayed the rescue or pretended not to know about the accident. It's better to give death compensation later than the cost of rescue.

The buried Jeong-ok can't tell if his dad is dead or alive, right? So, from the company's point of view, you can't spend a lot of money because of this one person who doesn't know life or death. So what was the family's heart? Jeongok is a portrait house. Even if you ejaculate to the company to save Mr. Changsun, cry and fuss, the situation will not change.
And so another day went. It's already been three days since the accident. But the mine situation has changed. To my surprise, I resumed mining operations as usual. I started working on another gang next to the one that collapsed. There are about 3,1 miners, and they have to earn money to make a living, so I couldn't let go of them. When I'm mining, I'm also blasting. Even if Jung-Ok's father were alive, it would be a dangerous situation that could cause a chain collapse. Unaware of the family's burning speed, the mine is busy. And so another day passed.
August 8. Day 25 of the accident. In the mine office, an employee is constantly answering the phone. In the office, you have to operate a button to work in the shaft, so the office constantly rings the phone inside the shaft. However, an employee who answered the phone was shocked. I've received calls like this.

"That's Kim Chang-sun. I'm alive. Please take me out. Please spare me."
Jeong-ok said that his father, Changsun, was alive and not dead, so he called him directly. The employee who answered the phone thought the call was from a ghost. What the hell was going on inside this gang? Let's go back three days before the accident.

This is a replica of a part of the Gubong Mine. It is a vertical mine with a vertical pit drilled vertically, and Mr. Changsun worked here as a drainer. There's a stream of water in the shaft that causes groundwater to pool. It gets in the way of selling minerals, so they pump water out.
Mr. Changsun went down to the shaft as usual, checked the drainage pump everywhere, and made sure that the water was draining well. I've been working for a while, so it's time for lunch. There were three drainers I worked with, and they asked me to go out of the pit and have lunch. It's about 1 sqm space, but it's enough to eat alone. Just as Mr. Changsun was about to take out the lunch box his wife had packed, the mine collapsed, and Mr. Changsun lost his mind.

After a while, I managed to come back to my senses, but my eyes and nose were so spicy. I can't see the dirt on the stone dust. Changsun fumbled toward the faintly lit entrance. But the entrance was jammed. The shaft is full of rubble. Changsun was trapped inside the drain. Still, I'm glad my life was spared. What if it was outside the drain? Changsun may have already lost his life.
I scream for help, but no one listens. The first drainage field where Mr. Changsun is located is located 1 meters underground. It's as deep as a 125-story building upside down. Changsun struggled to make up his mind and calmly began to gather his thoughts. First, he looked at his belongings.
I had a packed lunch, a magazine, cash in my pocket, and a pencil. Changsun just started fumbling around to see what else there was. But something caught in my hand. It's a wire called the "beep line." There was a military phone in the drain, and it's a wire connecting these phones. But the power line broke because of the accident. From then on, Changsun only touched the beep line in the darkness without any light. I bit it with my teeth, stripped off the wires, twisted the copper wires around. If that's it, I turned the lever and kept calling. But I kept failing. Still, Changsun didn't give up. Changsun is a veteran of the 50th Marine Corps, June 7th. He's also from the Signal Corps.

'불가능은 없다'는 해병대 정신으로 전화기 고치기에 며칠을 매달렸어. 그러던 4일째, 드디어 광산 사무실에 전화를 걸 수 있었던 거야.

창선 씨가 살아있는 걸 확인했으니, 구조는 시작됐을까? 아니, 달라지는 게 없어. 구조 장비가 아직도 안 왔거든. 당시는 1960년대잖아. 지금처럼 연락이 빠르지도 않고, 전국에 구조 장비도 얼마 없었어. 보통 재난 구조의 골든아워는 72시간이야. 그 시간을 넘기면 생존율이 급격히 떨어져. 그런데 창선 씨가 매몰된 후 이미 80시간이 지났어. 가족들은 창선 씨가 살아있는 걸 아는데 못 꺼낸다고 하니 더 애가 타.

하루가 더 지나 사고 5일째. 그런데 현장 분위기가 또 달라졌어. 광산 앞에 사람이 가득해. 창선 씨의 사고 소식이 뉴스에 보도된 거야.

"전 기자라는 직업 때문에, 사고는 경찰에서 제일 먼저 입수를 합니다. 경찰서장이 나한테, '구봉광산에 큰 사건이 일어났다', '충남 청양 구봉광산에 광부 한 사람이 갇혀있다', '수직 갱에 갇혀 있는데, 광산 측에서는 큰 사고로 알고 있다'고 알렸죠."

윤 기자가 라디오 뉴스로 현장 상황을 중계하고 신문에 특종 기사를 냈어. 그걸 본 다른 신문사 기자들도 줄줄이 청양으로 내려왔어. 당시 사진이야.

무너진 갱 속에서 광부가 직접 생존 소식을 알렸다는 게, 얼마나 감동 스토리야. 그 시절에 광부라고 하면, 위험을 무릅쓰고 지하 갱도로 내려간 산업 전사들이야. '불굴의 의지', '절망 속 희망' 딱 기삿거리잖아. 그때부터 신문, 라디오에서 김창선 씨 소식이 쏟아져. 김창선 씨의 생환은 한 가족의 일이 아니라, 국민 전체의 바람이 된 거야. 모두가 창선 씨의 구조 소식을 바랐어.
사람들의 관심이 집중되며 동원할 수 있는 모든 장비와 구조 인원들이 현장에 도착했어. 수직 갱 입구에 캡슐이 설치됐어. 캡슐에 사람이 타고 위아래로 왔다 갔다 하는 거야. 캡슐이 내려가서 멈춰 선 곳은, 지하 75m 지점이야. 창선 씨가 있는 곳은 지하 125m이잖아. 그럼 이 갱도를 막고 있는 흙더미의 두께가 50m 정도 되겠지. 그걸 다 뚫어야 해.

서둘러 구조반이 편성되고 작업이 시작됐어. 캡슐을 타고 내려가서, 꽉 막힌 잔해물을 꺼내는 거야. 상당 시간 소요되는 구조 작업. 공간이 좁아서 여럿이 작업할 수도 없어. 그렇다고 급하게 해서는 안 돼. 잔해들을 함부로 건들면 2차 붕괴 위험이 있거든. 이러다 보니, 하루 최대 2m 정도만 파 내려갈 수 있는 거야. 그럼 50m까지 가려면, 한 달 가까이 걸린다는 거야. 그때까지 창선 씨가 버틸 수 있을까.
그런데, 구조 작업에 좋은 반전이 있었어. 막히지 않은 빈 공간이 있었던 거야. 지지대에 걸려 그 밑으로는 막히지 않았고, 그래서 15m 정도만 걷어내면 창선 씨를 구할 수 있는 거야. 그나마 다행이지.

그럼 창선 씨 상황은 어떨까? 앉을 힘도 없어서 누워있어. 천장을 올려다보는데 막막해. 그때, 배수장으로 전화가 걸려왔어. "정옥이 아버지 괜찮아요?"라고 묻는 아내 목소리야. 눈이 번쩍 뜨여. 아내는 사람들 수백 명이 모여 당신을 구하려고 애쓰고 있으니, 살아 나올 생각만 하라고 당부했어. 창선 씨는 구조 소식을 들으니 힘이나. 당시 극적으로 녹음된 창선 씨 목소리가 있어. 근데 창선 씨는 온통 가족 생각뿐이야.
"아버지가 없는 동안에라도요. 그전같이 싸우지 말고. 공부 열심히 해가지고 말이요. 어머님한테 효도해서요…."

정신이 드니까 배가 고파와. 창선 씨한테는 아내가 싸준 도시락이 있잖아. 아내가 처음에 줬을 땐 반찬이 마음에 들지 않아 불평했는데, 사실 그 반찬이 아니었다면 큰일 날 뻔했어. 창선 씨한테 꼭 필요한, '염분'이 가득한 반찬이었거든. 바로 '꼴뚜기 젓갈'이었어. 창선 씨는 이 꼴뚜기 젓갈을 조금씩 나눴어. 또 염분 말고 중요한 '수분'. 다행히 배수장 안에는 지하수가 똑똑 떨어져. 창선 씨는 물 떨어지는 자리에 도시락 뚜껑을 놔서, 물이 차면 조금씩 나눠 마셨어.
그런데 문제가 또 있어. 바로 '추위'야. 밖은 한여름이지만, 갱 안은 냉기로 가득해. 몸이 오들오들 떨릴 정도야. 정신이 혼미해지고 자꾸 졸려. 그런데 그때, 창선 씨 손에 뭐가 또 잡혀. 배수장에 달려 있었던 전구야. 창선 씨는 또 남은 삐삐선을 한참 만지며, 전선을 고치기 시작해.

'불가능은 없다' 해병대 정신은 또 해냈어. 전구에 불이 켜졌고 배수장 안은 환해졌어. 그 작은 전구에서 나오는 온기가, 얼마나 따뜻한지 몰라. 창선 씨는 전구를 소중히 품에 안고, 몸을 한껏 움크렸어. 그 전구엔 어렴풋이 자기 모습도 비쳐 보여. 암흑에서 벗어난 안도감, 마치 희망이 켜진 느낌이야.

8월 28일, 매몰 7일째. 15m 중 겨우 3.6m를 파냈어. 구조 상황은 매일 보도돼. 대통령도 특별 지시를 내리고, 미 공병대와 미국 정비회사도 구조 작업을 돕고 있었어. 그날 오후, 광산 사무실로 다시 창선 씨의 전화가 걸려왔어. 그런데 목소리가 너무 힘이 없어. 상태가 확 나빠졌어. 창선 씨는 배가 너무 고프다며, 소지하고 있는 잡지를 먹어도 되겠냐고 물었어. 도시락은 이미 다 먹은 상황이고 그 뒤로 물만 마시며 버티고 있던 거야.
극한의 갱 안에서 창선 씨는 어떤 마음이었을까. 우리가 직접 겪은 일이 아니니까 가늠만 할 뿐이잖아? 광산에 매몰되는 사고를 직접 당해봤던 한 분을, '꼬꼬무'가 만나봤어. 이분은 1982년 태백탄광이 수몰되는 사고에서 생존한 손신광 씨야.

"광산에 일하는 사람들은 출근이 마지막 길인 줄도 몰라요. 쾅 소리가 나. 쾅쾅 터지는데, 좀 이따 보니까 물소리가 나는 거예요. 물이 막 계속 차 올라오는 거예요. 며칠 지나니까, 아주 포기가 되더라고요. 이제는 희망이 없구나… 다 죽었다 했지 뭐요 밖에 사람들은. 나는 밖에 어린 자식이 있는데, 절대로 죽어서는 안 된다고 다짐했지만…."

잊을 수 없는 그날의 고통. 쾅 하는 소리가 나더니 갱이 무너지고 물이 흘러들었대. 탄을 캐낸 자리로 간신히 몸을 피했는데, 춥고 배고프고, 한 이틀 지나니까 헛것까지 보였대. 과연 구조될 수 있을까, 하는 불안감이 점점 더 커져. 그래도 손신광 씨는 혼자는 아니었어. 당시 동료 3명이랑 같이 있었어. 서로의 체온으로 추위를 견디고 대화를 나누면서 함께 시간을 버텼어. 그런데 구봉광산의 창선 씨는 혼자야. 상황이 훨씬 더 안 좋아.
종일 뭔가 무너지는 소리가 들리고, 몸 위로는 계속 돌가루가 떨어져. '이러다 또 무너지면 어떡하나' 배수장 안은 공포 그 자체야. 입 안은 말라붙는데, 물을 마시러 갈 힘도 없어. 걸려오는 전화도 달갑지 않아. '전화를 받아서 뭐 하나. 나가지도 못할 텐데' 하는 절망적인 생각 때문이야. 그렇게 또 하루가 흘렀어.
매몰 8일째. 축 늘어져 있던 창선 씨가 몸을 일으켜 세웠어. 목은 마르다 못해 찢어질 거 같아. 간신히 물 한 모금을 마셨어. 그리고 먹을까 말까 고민했던 잡지의 그나마 깨끗한 페이지를 찢었어. 창선 씨는 그 잡지를 먹지는 않고, 대신 글을 썼어.
"여보 나 먼저 가오. 우리 자식 5남매만은 부디 잘 키워 나처럼 죽어가지 않게 해주오."
삶을 포기하는 순간의 참담한 심정. 가족들에게 남긴 마지막 말, 유언장을 쓴 거야. 그리고 전화기를 들었어. 그때 무슨 이야기를 했는지, 창선 씨 조카의 이야기를 들어볼게.
"저보고 필기도구가 있으면 좀 적으라고 합디다. 내가 죽으면 보상금이 나온다, 논을 사든지 하여서 어린애들 공부시키도록 하고, 인감도장 내가 가지고 있다. 그리고 내 호주머니에 돈 420원이 있고…."

마지막까지 가족들을 위한 당부였어. 호주머니에 있는 한 푼까지 잘 챙겨달라는 당부. 사망보상금은 아이들을 위해 써달라는 이야기. 그 뒤로 전화는 뚝 끊어졌어. 이 소식을 들은 바깥 상황은 또다시 난리가 났어. 정옥이 엄마는 "나 혼자 어떻게 하라고"라며 오열하고, 정옥이도 아빠가 돌아가시는 건가 생각했어.

정옥이 엄마 얼굴은 핼쑥해. 아빠 걱정에 제대로 먹지도 자지도 못해. 울다가 실신하는 일이 잦아. 집에는 매일같이 기자들이 찾아와.
"이렇게 굴 안에 있으면 먹지도 못하고 입지도 못하고 하는 이 사정 이야기를 들으면 당최 목구멍으로 넘어가지도 않습니다. 그러면 어떡해야 구원을 할까요. 이 생각만 하고 있습니다. 어찌 되든 간에 선생님들이 다 수고하시는 김에 좀 더 수고해서 목숨 하나만 건져주세요."

이렇게 인터뷰를 마친 엄마는 근처에 있는 절로 가서 정성을 다해 빌고 또 빌었어. 그런 엄마를 보며, 어린 정옥이는 좀 의아했대. 엄마가 기독교 신자셨거든. 얼마나 간절했으면, 부처님, 하나님 모두 붙잡고 기도한 거야. 당시 13살 정옥이가 쓴 일기가 있어.

"엄마는 울기만 하고 밥도 안 먹고 잠도 안 주무셔요. 광산에선 왜 우리 아버지를 빨리 안 구해줄까요. 여러 높은 사람들이 찾아와서 돈도 주고 쌀도 주었어요. 그런 것 다 없어도 좋아요. 우리 아버지가 언제 살아날까요. 갇힌 굴은 15m밖에 안 된다고 해요. 그러나 마음이 놓이질 않아 잠이 오지 않아요."
▲ 거의 다 왔는데, 또다시 나타난 복병
연일 이어지는 구조 작업. 4일 동안 7.5m를 팠어. 이제 딱 절반이야. 매몰 10일째. 9.5m까지 내려갔어. 그리고 매몰 시간은, 200시간을 경과했어. 창선 씨가 좀만 더 버텨주기만을 바랄 뿐. 구조를 위해 모인 대원들은 밤낮없이 교대 근무 중이야. 잔해를 파내다보면, 커다란 돌이 떨어지기도 하고 지하수가 소나기처럼 쏟아지기도 해. 발 한 번 잘못 디디면, 사람 구하려다 내가 잘못될 수도 있어. 구조반도 목숨을 걸고 작업을 하는 거지. 그런데 이 당시 구조에 참여한 사람만 2천 명이 넘어. 창선 씨를 구하기 위해 전국에서 광부들이 모였어. 가족을 위해 목숨 걸고 광산으로 뛰어드는 그 마음, 누구보다 잘 아니까. 가족에게 구조 작업 사실을 숨기면서까지 나섰대. 모두가 간절히 창선 씨의 생환을 바랐어.

"내가 당하는 거랑 똑같지. 위험한데 들어가서 하는 사람들 다, 오늘도 어떻게 될지 모르니까. 내가 당하는 거나 똑같은 거죠."

지상에서는 꼬박꼬박 창선 씨에게 전화를 걸어. 전화기 소리에 스트레스받지 않도록, 하루 두 번씩 전화를 걸었어. 그런데 마지막 통화를 한 지 3일이나 지났는데, 창선 씨에게서는 답이 없어. 어느새 9월 1일. 매몰 11일째야. 드디어, 전화가 연결됐어. 수화기는 급히 한 남자에게 전달돼. 창선 씨의 건강을 체크하기 위한 의사였어.

현장에는 의사들도 대기하고 있었어. 전화 검진으로 창선 씨의 건강 상태를 체크했어. 그럼 창선 씨의 상태는 어떨까? 겨우 숨만 붙어있어. 물 하나로 버티는 상황이잖아. 사람이 물만 마시고 며칠이나 살 수 있을까? 의학적으로는 한 달 정도 가능하대. 그렇다면 11일이 지났으니, 아직 희망이 있는 거잖아? 그런데 창선 씨의 경우는 달라. 광산 지하수가 깨끗한 물이 아니잖아. 이 물에는 비소가 섞여 있어. 많이 먹으면 위험해. 게다가 혼자 고립돼 있고 춥잖아. 최악의 조건이야. 이럴 때 제일 중요한 건, 살겠다는 의지야.
의사는 전화 검진을 이어갔어. 배변 활동에 대해 물으니 창선 씨는 "소변은 조금 봤고, 대변은 참고 있다"고 답했어. 왜 그러냐 물으니 그는 "배가 더 고파질까 봐서"라고 했어. 창선 씨, 최대한 버티고 있는 거야. 희망과 절망이 계속 오가는 상황에서도, 어떻게든 살려고 고군분투하고 있어.
다음 날에는 기자가 창선 씨와 통화했어.
기자: 갱 속에서 얼마나 고생이 많습니까?
김창선: 네 고맙습니다.
기자: 혹시 지금 무슨 생각이 듭니까?
김창선: 어릴 때 쥐 잡던 생각, 친구들이 쥐새끼라고 별명을 부르던 일을 생각했으며. 6·25 때 전투 생각도 했어요.
기자: 가족들에게 전할 말은 있습니까?
김창선: 봉주, 동주가 피부병을 앓고 있다는데 어떻게 지내는지 궁금합니다.
-매몰 12일째 창선 씨의 기록
마지막까지 아이들 걱정이야. 창선 씨는 5남매를 생각하며 간신히 버티고 있어. 하지만, 결국 한계에 다다랐어. 창선 씨는 "차라리 밑에서 박격포라도 쏴주세요. 운이 좋으면 살고 아니면 마는 거죠 뭐. 다들 나 때문에 수고가 많으셨습니다"라며 자포자기한 말을 했어. 창선 씨 상태가 위태로워.
그 시각, 구조 작업은 거의 막바지야. 매몰 지점에 가까워질수록, 작업에 신중을 기해야 해. 무너진 흙 사이에 배수 파이프가 이리저리 막 얽혀있거든. 자칫 잘못 건드리면 물폭탄이 터질 수도 있어. 그 사이사이를 잘 파내야 하는 거야.
9월 3일, 매몰 13일째. 남은 거리는 2.5m. 드디어 구조에 임박했다는 전망이 나오기 시작해. 광산 입구는 기자들과 주민들로 가득해. 구조 캡슐이 올라올 때마다, 좋은 소식이 있을까 기대해. 그런데 구조반 사람들 표정이 어두워. 거의 다 왔다고 생각했는데, 커다란 바위가 나타난 거야.

갱이 무너질 때 바위가 같이 떨어졌나 봐. 예상치 못한 복병이야. 이 바위가 어찌나 크고 단단한지, 당시 장비로는 뚫는 게 무리였어. 더 큰 문제는, 2~3일 안에 창선 씨를 구하지 못하면, 시신을 올려야 할 수도 있어. 창선 씨에게 전화를 걸었지만 안 받아.

그래도 여기서 지체할 순 없어. 무조건 빨리 파는 수밖에 없어. 구조대원들은 곡괭이와 망치를 들고 다시 캡슐에 올랐어. 한 땀 한 땀 바위를 부수기 시작해. 속도는 어쩔 수 없이 느려졌어. 하루 종인 파도 0.7m. 매몰 지점까지 조금씩 가까워지고 있지만, 창선 씨의 시간도 얼마 안 남았어.
매몰된 지 16일째. 지상에선 긴급 작전 회의가 열렸어. 바위 깨는 걸 멈추자는 거야. 바위를 깨다 보니까, 바위와 갱도 벽면 사이에 파이프 2개가 끼어 있었어. 이 파이프를 뽑아내면 틈이 생기고, 그 틈으로 진입하면 시간을 단축시킬 수 있을 거 같아. 하지만 잘못 뽑으면 어떤 상황이 일어날지 몰라. 조금 위험하긴 하지만, 그 파이프를 뽑기로 했어. 정말 시간이 없으니까.
"제1배수장까지 쇠 사다리를 내리고, 2명의 작업반을 내려 보내서 김 씨의 온몸을 광목으로 3겹을 싼 뒤에 김 씨가 갑자기 빛이 들어가면 실명될 우려가 있기 때문에 눈을 붕대로 가리고 구명용 자루 속에 넣어서, 케이지로 실어서 지상에 올려야 됩니다."

이걸 누가 할 수 있을까. 선뜻 나서기 힘든 상황이야. 그때, 조철호 씨와 최수봉 씨가 자원했어. 김창선 씨와 같은 사택에 사는 광부들이야. "나도 언젠가 같은 상황에 처할지 모르는 거 아닙니까", "나를 구하는 마음으로 들어가겠습니다", "4년 전에 이 갱도를 제 손으로 파냈습니다. 반드시 구해내겠습니다"라며 두 사람 다 결연한 의지를 보였어.
9월 6일 오후 1시. 조철호, 최수봉 씨가 캡슐에 올라. 도르래가 내려지고 얼마 후, 문제의 그 바위 위에 안착해. 두 사람은 조심스럽게 파이프를 뽑았어. 좁은 틈이 생겼어. 이제 주변을 파내면서 폭을 넓혀. 어느 정도 파내니 한 사람 정도는 들어갈 수 있을 거 같아. 조철호 씨가 먼저 몸에 밧줄을 묶고 아래로 내려가. 마침내 김창선 씨가 매몰된 지점이 바로 앞이야.
"창선아! 나 철호 형이야. 내 말 들려?"라고 소리쳤지만, 대꾸가 없어. 입구를 막은 흙만 파내면 돼. 두께가 얼마나 되는지 흙을 쇠꼬챙이로 찔러봤는데, 꼬챙이가 들어갔다가 나온 자리로 빛이 새어 나와. 그 빛, 뭔지 알겠어? 배수장 안에서 창선 씨가 켜놓은 전구의 불빛이야. 다시 구조대는 창선 씨의 이름을 목이 터져라 불렀어. 여전히 대답은 안 들려. 마음이 급해진 구조대는 곡괭이를 들고 미친 듯이 입구에 막힌 흙을 파냈어. 그러길 몇 시간, 드디어 입구에 구멍이 생겼어. 그리고 그 너머에 쓰러져 있는 창선 씨가 보여.

창선 씨는 살아있었어. 안도감에 눈물이 터져 나왔어. 다행히 늦지 않게 도착한 거야. 조철호 씨가 다가가자 와락 안겨 떨어질 줄 몰라. 일단 허리춤에 찬 식염수부터 먹였어. "창선아 됐다, 이제 나가자"라며 조철호 씨는 창선 씨를 안고 캡슐에 올라탔어. 도르래 밧줄이 서서히 감겨. 10m, 5m, 1m… 그리고 마침내, 지상 위로 모습이 보이기 시작해.

"캡슐 위를 잡고 천천히 모습을 나타내고 있는데요. 지금 올라왔습니다. 가장 땅속에 오래 있던 한 사나이가 올라왔습니다. 구조 대원들 지금 잡고 있는 가운데 김창선 씨 얼굴을 모두 볼 수 없습니다. 광부가 완전히 가렸습니다…. 얼굴이 나왔습니다. 난닝구 바람입니다."

Kim Chang-sun was rescued after 16 days. At first glance, it's so skinny. Sept. 9, 6:9 p.m. After 15 days, 15 hours and 8 minutes after being buried, Kim Chang-sun was rescued. I survived 35 hours in the mine.
Jung-Ok's mother fainted when she saw her husband come out. At the time, I didn't know my husband's life or death right away, so I thought the invoice was coming up. Contrary to his worries, Changsun's consciousness was very clear. As I was being carried on a stretcher, my pants were dripping, so I hurriedly pulled them up.

Chang was taken to a Seoul hospital shortly after the rescue and recovered day by day. I went from 65kg to 46kg, a whopping 19kg. I was so healthy that I couldn't believe I was buried for 16 days.

Outside the hospital, people who came to see Mr. Changsun should be crowded. 'Iron Man', 'Phoenix' and 'The Man Who Never Dies' wanted to receive his energy.

On the day Changsun was discharged from the hospital, his face brightened and he looked happy with a smile on his face. Wasn't it really like being born again? The life of the Changsun family has also changed from before. I got a lot of donations, moved out, and things improved a lot.
"I lived in a mine house and then in a house with a big yard. I think I got everything without school supplies. I get a lot of books and stuff like that. I got a lot of letters."

family decided September 9, the day Kim Chang-sun returned safely, as their second birthday and held a party every year. Sixteen days in a collapsed mine. Changsun says that even in those desperate moments, she was able to keep her will going because she had a family.

And Kim Chang-sun passed away in 2022 at the age of ninety.
You use the word "barracks" a lot. You know what it means? Say that the end of the mine with nowhere else to go is the "last minute." On the way to the makjang, there is a writing like this.

Many miners of that time worked in this barracks even in the difficult environment of drinking stone dust and coal powder all over their bodies. With only one heart to feed my own children. Kim Chang-sun also risked his life every day to go to the mine for his family. I miraculously came back alive from where I almost lost my life. And another miracle happened.
In 1982, Kim Chang-sun visited survivors of the Taebaek coal mine accident who survived the sinking 14 days.

He was rescued after 14 days. I thought about how Kim Chang-sun had returned safely. A miracle is another miracle.
Kim Chang-sun, who had a serious accident, said:
"Nobody likes to die. But I never thought before the accident that my life was so precious."
After experiencing extreme situations, you realize something like Changsun. How precious each day is, how grateful I am to be able to come out every morning to say hello to my family and go home casually.
What if Kim Chang-sun had brought other side dishes that day, if he couldn't connect the phone line, if he hadn't turned on the light bulb? In life, you can face such an unexpected crisis. When that happens, I think it's good to think about this story today and get through it.
