"I got food poisoning from eating there. If you don't compensate me, I will report you."

A 2-year-old man who threatened more than 500,7 sushi restaurants nationwide and ripped off more than 000 million won was caught by the police.

The Ulsan East Police Department announced today (30th) that it has arrested Mr. A on suspicion of habitual racketeering.

Mr. A is accused of extorting 24 million won in compensation by randomly calling more than 12,3 sushi restaurants nationwide, including Seoul and Ulsan, for three months from December last year to last month, threatening to "eat food and get food poisoning."

According to the police, Mr. A called a sushi restaurant in Ulsan last month and threatened, "I have food poisoning, and if you don't compensate me, I will report it to the health center," and received a transfer of more than 2,550 won to his account.

However, the police investigation revealed that Mr. A did not actually visit the restaurant.

He searched the portal site and made random threatening phone calls to commit the crime, and the owners of the sushi restaurants were afraid to report it, so they transferred the money.

In particular, when some business owners asked for proof of having food poisoning, Mr. A would send a fake medical certificate to his mobile phone.

Mr. A's criminal activities were discovered when the owner of a sushi restaurant, who had few customers that day, received his phone and became suspicious and called the police.

The police analyzed the contents of Mr. A's phone calls and other data, confirmed that he had extorted from restaurants nationwide, and arrested Mr. A at his residence in Seoul through the contents of the report and tracking his location.

Mr. A reportedly used the stolen money for entertainment and gambling.

Police said they are investigating the crime against Ms. A and plan to obtain victim statements from victims in other areas besides Ulsan.
