At the start of the party season in Mallorca, the restaurants at Ballermann were more visited than they had been for a long time, according to media reports.

On Friday, the cult restaurants were heavily overcrowded, including the "beer king", as the "Mallorca Zeitung" reported on Saturday.

Over four days, dozens of popular pop artists will perform in the restaurant. In a few days, the "Megapark", the largest discotheque on the Ballermann, will follow suit to celebrate the start of the season.

A year ago, the celebrations had become too excessive. "It was worse than ever before," recalls Beatrice Ciccardini, landlady of the pub "Zur Krone", of last year's kick-off. Drunks vomited on the streets, behaved unmannerly and beat each other up. "It's the pure Ballermann audience," she says.

Riots on the same scale are said not to have occurred so far.

Discotheques are increasingly trying to better regulate the parties. Booze tourism has not been welcome in Mallorca for a long time.

Over the past year, nightclubs have drawn up a code of conduct, according to which drunks are no longer allowed in and a minimum level of clothing is prescribed: shirt, trousers, sturdy shoes. "You can tell that people are paying more attention," says Ciccardini.

Especially since the "Megapark" is breaking new ground: songs about sex, alcohol and drugs are no longer to be given a stage. A large investment has been made in a laser show that is supposed to be reminiscent of glamorous parties on the neighboring island of Ibiza. In addition, there will also be a number of new artists who will play different music.
