The British royals commemorated Queen Elizabeth II, who died last year, on Friday. The long-time monarch would have turned 21 on April 97. On the Twitter account of Kensington Palace, a photo was published for the occasion, in which Elizabeth II can be seen with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The picture was taken last summer at Balmoral Castle, it said.

The Queen died on 8 September 2022 while staying at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands, where she usually spent the summer months. The picture is therefore likely to have been taken at most a few weeks before her death.

It features Prince William and Princess Kate's children: nine-year-old Prince George, seven-year-old Princess Charlotte and four-year-old Prince Louis with the granddaughters and grandchildren of Queen's daughter Princess Anne, as well as the children of Queen's son Prince Edward and his wife Duchess Sophie.

Son of Camilla: "She married the person she loves"

Meanwhile, Tom Parker Bowles, son of Britain's Queen Camilla, defended his mother the day before against accusations that she has always been after the crown. "I don't care what anyone says, she's not after it. She married the person she loves," said 48-year-old Parker Bowles in an interview for the "News Agents" podcast on Thursday.

Who he meant by "anyone," he did not say. However, he is likely to have alluded not least to Prince Harry. The 38-year-old had strongly criticized his stepmother Camilla in his autobiography "Spare" (to German "Reserve"), published in January.

Among other things, Harry had accused her of giving information about other royals to the press in order to appear in a better light. He also described the 75-year-old as "dangerous" and accused her of having planned her marriage to his father King Charles III and her own coronation as queen for a long time.

Just recently, the palace announced that Camilla would only be referred to as Queen Camilla instead of Queen Consort after the coronation.

Harry had broken away from the inner circle of the royal family more than three years ago in a dispute and since then has repeatedly spoken in the press about his relationship with the royals.

However, Harry is expected to attend the coronation ceremony on May 6 in London. However, his wife Meghan remains in California with their two children Archie and Lilibet, where the family now lives.
