Millions of dollars worth of gold shipment stolen from Toronto airport in Canada

A shipping container loaded with gold and other items worth more than C$20 million ($14.8 million) was stolen from Toronto's Pearson International Airport, authorities said Thursday.

Bell Regional Police Inspector Stephen Duvestin said a "high-value" container was taken from a detention area facility after it was unloaded from an aircraft on Monday evening.

"According to normal procedures, the aircraft was unloaded and cargo was transferred from the aircraft to a cargo facility. The container contains a high-value cargo. It contained gold but was not limited to gold. There were other items with monetary value," and the missing goods were reported to the police shortly after.

Police declined to give further details.
"It's been three days, so our investigators are opening their eyes to all avenues," Duevstein said, and no arrests have been made.
