She wanted to "put the church back in the center of the village". Alexandra Redde-Amiel, the head of the French delegation of Eurovision was this Friday morning at the microphone of Sud Radio to react to the controversy surrounding La Zarra. The Canadian singer, who will defend the French chances in the final of the contest on May 13 in Liverpool, had canceled at the last moment her performances at the Eurovision pre-concerts in Amsterdam and London, respectively last Saturday and Sunday.

The delegation told 20 Minutes that the artist was "emotionally exhausted" and that her main commitments on her agenda between now and her arrival in Liverpool on May 3 were no longer on the agenda. The whole thing has caused perplexity in the French media, which have spoken of his behavior "diva", in reference, among other things, to a story that La Zarra posted on Instagram on Saturday. After spending the night in the Dutch capital, she was indignant about the hygiene of her hotel room, which she claimed to have washed herself with bleach "so dirty it was".

"She's not perfect, she's human"

At our colleagues of Sud Radio, Alexandra Redde-Amiel called to "dispassionate" history. And to tell that La Zarra had last Saturday night "a personal problem due to the health of a relative" which led her to give up going on stage. A decision that the head of delegation says she supported.

"We all have our faults and our qualities, she is not perfect, she is human. She's a mother, she's an artist," said Alexandra Redde Amiel, denouncing what she called a "media lynching," as well as the "racist criticism" La Zarra faces on social media.

Asked if the delegation made a mistake in selecting the Quebec singer, the Sud Radio guest replied: "We made the right choice. We have a great song, hailed internationally. The welcome of Obviously abroad is indeed very warm, as evidenced by the mostly rave comments on YouTube. Among the bookmakers, the odds of the France are only increasing: still ninth favorite for the victory at Eurovision on Monday, La Zarra is in sixth position this Friday and could be in the top 5 this weekend. A positive indicator tending to prove that the controversy of recent days has not tarnished the image of the tricolor representative on the international scene.

"La Zarra will be in Liverpool [at Eurovision]," Redde-Amiel said. I would get flogged if she doesn't go for x reasons. I was still with her this morning, what we're preparing for staging is crazy! A way to urge critics to shut up and let La Zarra sing to demonstrate what she is capable of.
