Businesses ransacked, street furniture vandalized and barricades on fire. After an already hectic Friday evening, the regional rally against the pension reform degenerated Saturday afternoon in Rennes. As often since the beginning of the mobilization, the city center of the Breton capital was the scene of violent clashes between groups of radical demonstrators and the police.

We learn on Tuesday that a gold sales and redemption shop was looted on the sidelines of this undeclared demonstration. While she was in the basement of her store, the manager immediately went upstairs when she heard noise. "She then noted that demonstrators were at the height of her shop and that three windows had been broken," says the Rennes prosecutor's office, confirming information from Ouest-France. "Opening the door to see the damage, two individuals forced the passage and entered the store," continues the prosecutor, reporting the words of the trader.

The manager "held firmly" by an individual

The first individual then allegedly stole gold coins and bars while the second "held the manager firmly at the level of her forearms". According to a first estimate, the damage is estimated at 25,000 euros. An investigation, entrusted to the departmental security has been opened and no arrest has yet taken place.

After this new day of violence, the mayor of Rennes had reacted by calling on the State for help to "recognize the particular situation" of the city. "How far will this destructive madness go?" asked the elected official, demanding in particular that "the prejudice of traders be "recognized and taken care of".
