A stepfather in his 1s who was accused of abusing his live-in daughter's children, including kicking them, and was sentenced at the first trial, appealed the sentence, saying it was heavy, but the case was dismissed.

The live-in partner, the biological mother of the two daughters, has denied the allegations of assault by her stepfather, saying she thought her daughter's missing teeth from the assault were "baby teeth".

According to the legal profession on the 30th, the Criminal Appeal Division 18 of the Daejeon District Law (head Kim Jin-sun) sentenced Mr. A (5), who was accused of child abuse under the Child Welfare Act, to two years in prison, the same as the original trial.

It also ordered the completion of a 39-hour child abuse treatment program and a three-year restriction on employment in child-related institutions.

In the winter of 2, Mr. A was put on trial for allegedly assaulting his live-in daughter, Miss B (then 40 years old), by kicking and punching her at her home in the northwest district of Cheonan, Chungcheongnam, because she was "watching TV and hanging around."

Miss B, who tried to avoid this, lowered her head and crouched down, but Miss A did not stop the assault, resulting in Miss B's teeth falling out and tearing her knee after hitting her teeth on her knee.

It was also investigated that Miss B, who was wearing only thin pajamas, and her two-year-old sister, who were wearing only thin pajamas, were thrown out to the veranda for sleeping late at the same time, and then slept on the veranda without food or water.

In addition, Miss A is accused of emotionally abusing Miss B's sister, who had previously returned from running away from home in the summer of 3, by swearing at her and hurting herself with a weapon to make her feel terrified.

Miss A's abusive behavior was revealed by a report from her teacher, who found Miss B's hygiene poor and that she always had bruises around her wrists and eyes.

Miss A denied the crime, saying that the investigating agency had not abused the sister.

The sister's biological mother, her live-in partner, also said, "I knew that my second tooth was missing, but I thought it was 'childish' and was not treated," adding, "My dad also bought a birthday cake for my eldest daughter who ran away from home. There was no act of self-harm."

The tribunal rejected their claims, saying that it was difficult to convince that the mother did not know that the permanent teeth had come out, and that their statement that she had bought a birthday cake for her child who was born in December in the summer was not credible.

The court of first instance sentenced the accused to two years in prison, saying, "Despite the severity of the abuse and the great physical and emotional pain felt by the victims, the accused has not reflected on it, using unconvincing excuses."

Miss A appealed, saying that there was no evidence of abuse and that the sentence was too heavy and unjust.

However, the second instance dismissed the appeal, saying that "the children are making specific and consistent statements about the facts of the victimization" and that "the crime of child abuse is highly reprehensible in that it is a crime against a vulnerable person who has difficulty resisting."
