It was a witness who alerted the firefighters on Sunday, a little after 9 am, to report a stranded ship with an unconscious person on board at the tip of Men Meur in Guilvinec (Finistère). Immediately, significant resources were committed to rescue the boater, with the intervention of a land patrol of the National Society for Sea Rescue, the Dragon 29 helicopter of the Civil Security as well as teams from the Smur and firefighters.

After locating the victim, aged about sixty years, the rescuers first tried to resuscitate him in the rocks. The conditions of intervention being difficult, the decision was then taken to winch the boater to bring him back to the beach where the rescue again tried to resuscitate her, in vain. The victim was reported at 12:15 p.m., says the Maritime Prefecture of the Atlantic. The motor pleasure boat, the Étoile des flots, was then transported to the port of Guilvinec by sea rescuers.
