Hail suddenly began to fall around 2 p.m. on a holiday.

Near Sanseong Village in Geumjeong-gu, Busan, hail as large as 1 cm thick fell for nearly 30 minutes.

The occasional rain had turned into hail in overcast weather.

Hail also fell in the city center, mainly in Dongnae-gu, Geumjeong-gu, and Yeonje-gu.

The hail that rained down on the parked cars with a loud noise quickly began to pile up.

Hail also fell on residential areas, and the area around the house turned white for a moment, as if it had fallen snow.

Many citizens were taken aback by the sudden hailstorm.

[Ko Hyun-kyu/Video Informant: I couldn't get out of the car, and I was just worried about what to do when I reached my destination.

The sudden hail in mid-April appears to be caused by atmospheric instability and temperature differences in the upper and lower layers of the atmosphere.

[Jeon Kyung-ok/Busan Meteorological Agency forecaster: Hail fell on parts of Busan, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan due to atmospheric instability as the upper level cold air turned strongly.]

No major damage from this hail was reported.
