An important police and rescue device was deployed this Tuesday late afternoon in a district of Châlons-en-Champagne (Marne). The intervention of the police and firefighters cut all traffic in the area until 21 p.m. In question, the deployment of a security perimeter after the discovery of an unidentified white powder, says L'Union.

The suspect substance was found in a mailbox in the middle of the street. A 10-meter security zone around the box has been set up by the prefecture. It has been banned to cars and motorized two-wheelers, but also to bicycles and pedestrians. The powder turned out to be safe.

This is the conclusion reached by the chemical risk experts commissioned on site after a long analysis of the mysterious substance. Still, specialists could not immediately determine the nature of the powder. An investigation has been opened.
