On February 22, 2022, the editorial staff of 20 Minutes opened in the middle of the night a live article on Ukraine, a live, with this title: "Diplomacy to avoid war". She concluded it, late at night, with a promise. Our team of journalists will remain "mobilized 24 hours a day" to make you live the events in Eastern Europe. Two days later, on February 24, began what Russia officially calls a "special military operation" in Ukraine.

Behind the scenes of a country at war

A year later, on February 24, 2023, the editorial team launched a special week dedicated to the conflict, and decided to send a reporter to Ukraine. Diane Regny, a journalist with 20 Minutes, went for a week to Kiev, the capital, Butcha, in its suburbs, and Kharkiv, Ukraine's second city, near the Russian border, besieged for months. Three Ukrainian cities to witness the reconstruction of the martyred city of Butcha, visit a laboratory that identifies victims of the war, meet men detained by the Russians, soldiers on the front line in the Kharkiv region, families separated from their children held in Crimea, or Ukrainians who have lived for months, hidden in basements.
