A fire broke out in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in an apartment in Bussy-Saint-Georges (Seine-et-Marne), reports France Bleu. The toll is heavy: a 40-year-old mother died and one of her daughters, 13, was badly burned and helicoptered in critical condition to Percy Hospital in Clamart. A 5-year-old child and two other young victims aged 17 and 19 were also taken care of and hospitalized in Jossigny, says France 3 Paris Ile-de-France.

The fire took place in the apartment where the forty-year-old and her four children were. According to the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) of Seine-et-Marne, interviewed by France Bleu, the fire spread very quickly and ravaged the rooms of the apartment.

Residents evacuated

In total, 35 firefighters, with fifteen machines and a helicopter, were mobilized to overcome the disaster. Thirteen people living in the building were evacuated. The mayor of the commune, Yann Dubosc, ensures that these residents will be rehoused.
