A kindergarten in Montélimar (Drôme) was targeted by an arson attack on the night of Sunday to Monday. The mayor LR of the city Julien Cornillet said on Monday that he wanted to file a complaint for intrusion and vandalism, says France Bleu Drôme Ardèche. Part of the building housing the facility was affected.
The fire brushed against a wall in the school hall and the heat released by the flames shattered a window. Several individuals would be at the origin of the disaster. They allegedly entered the site by climbing a fence and setting fire to a recycling container for plastic and cardboard. An investigation was opened and entrusted to police officers from the city's police station.
Sixteen firefighters were mobilized shortly after midnight to overcome the flames. They intervened with a fire hose. The damaged window has already been replaced. Julien Cornillet assured that the school would be able to receive students at the beginning of the school year.
