Wild boar hunting has been authorized in the Donation-Robert-et-Nelly-de-Rothschild vocational school in Saint-Maximin (Oise). The animals took up residence in the park of the establishment, causing a lot of damage. They would have returned the sports fields, reports Le Parisien this Sunday.

"This is a relatively recent phenomenon," explains the mayor of the city, Serge Macudzinski, to our colleagues. Initially, wild boars bred in the wood of Laversines. To deal with this proliferation, the elected official intervened with the owners, the Rothschild family, who had the wood and thickets cleaned. But the suidae migrated in large numbers to the high school park.

Beatings until May 31

The phenomenon poses a security problem, because the wild boars approach the part housing the dormitory of the boarding school. But the high school is not the only place victim of this invasion. Indeed, in another part of the commune, walkers would have been threatened by a herd of wild boars.

These incidents have therefore prompted the prefecture to authorize beatings. They can take place until May 31, 2023 and only when teenagers are absent from high school. A wolf lieutenant will coordinate the operations.
