After the fatal shootings in Asperg, a special police task force has arrested a man. As a police spokesman said on Sunday, the man was taken away early Saturday evening at a residential building. There is a connection to the bloody deed of early Saturday morning, in which an 18-year-old man was killed and another seriously injured. Whether the arrested is a suspect, the spokesman did not want to say with reference to the ongoing investigation. First, the "Bild" newspaper had reported on the arrest.

On Saturday, prosecutors and police were buttoned up and shared little information about the case. Only so much: It fell shortly before 1 o'clock in the night to Saturday shots, an 18-Year-old died, a peer survived seriously injured. Numerous people alerted the police after the shots echoed through the night, a spokesman said.

Details of the course of action were not to be learned on Sunday morning from the authorities. The investigators hoped for clues from the population on possible escape vehicles. In the night had been extensively searched for suspects, said prosecutors and police in a brief message on Saturday morning. A police helicopter was also used.

A special commission was set up to investigate the case as quickly as possible. The 40 officials of the Soko "Goethe" would be supported by the State Office of Criminal Investigation.

Possible connection with other acts

Asperg is located about 20 kilometers from Stuttgart. In recent weeks, there had been incidents around the state capital of Baden-Württemberg with shots at people. The investigators are examining according to their own information a connection between the act in Asperg and other shots in the region.

According to Asperg's mayor Christian Eiberger (independent), the population of the city is in shock after the fact. "This is a new dimension of violence that I could not have imagined," Eiberger said. The crime scene is located in the middle of the village.

The crime scene, a gravel parking lot, was not known as a typical meeting place for young people, Eiberger said. He had been alerted in the night by the fire brigade and had made in the early morning hours a picture of the situation. He now hopes for a quick search success of the police. It is important that the population's sense of security is restored.
