Ahn Sung-hyun, the standing army coach of the national golf team, the husband of singer and actor Sung Yuri, is facing arrest on fraud charges related to cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb.

Coach Ahn Sung-hyun appeared at the pre-arrest interrogation (warrant substantive examination) held at the Seoul Southern District Court in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 7th. Coach Ahn is accused of receiving billions of won from certain cryptocurrency companies in the name of listing virtual currencies on the virtual currency exchange Bithumb.

Earlier, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor's Financial Investigation Division 2 (Head Chae Hee-man) requested an arrest warrant for coach Ahn Sung-hyun on the 5th on charges of violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Certain Crimes (fraud) and breach of trust.

Prosecutors are focusing on allegations that Coach Ahn used his friendship with Kang Jong-hyun, who is "suspected of being the real owner of Bithumb," to conspired with an employee who decided to list coins on Bithumb and received billions of won in money from a virtual currency company by promising to "list it on Bithumb."

Coach Ahn married Sung-Yuri in 2017 and held their twin daughters in his arms in January. He is reported to have participated as an investor in Bit Galaxia1, the predecessor of the Initial No. 1 investment association that controls Bithumb-related listed companies (Bucket Studio, InBiogen, and Vident), in which Kang Jong-hyun is known to be the substantial majority shareholder, and invested 1 million won in Vident.
