Fratries is a colocation company that sublets rooms to disabled and able-bodied tenants, who learn to "live together". The objective is to "perpetuate new models of inclusive housing while supporting young people with disabilities on a daily basis towards autonomy and employment".

Disabled roommates are accompanied by professionals

And the model works, as evidenced by Maxime, Axelle, Aurélie, Valentin, Matthieu and Étienne, house manager: "The roommates without disabilities who live here pay rent like in any flatshare," he says. But they are not there to help roommates with disabilities, because there are just four professionals present for that."

OUR "DISABILITY" FILE

Axelle, who is disabled, is delighted to live in a shared flat: "I can't live with my parents for the rest of my life, so when I heard that a house was opening, I was happy! Now I'm fine in my room," she enthuses. Matthieu, an able-bodied roommate, adds: "Living with people who have disabilities creates closeness and brings a lot of good humor."
