ChatGPT fascinates even the Minister of Economy. And if Bruno Le Maire is to be believed, the artificial intelligence created by OpenAI could even write political speeches. Questioned by C media on France 5 this Sunday, the Minister of Economy admitted to having tested ChatGPT to write a speech on China.

"I tested, it's quite fascinating," he explained. I was a speech writer, I wrote speeches by Dominique de Villepin and Jacques Chirac for years. And so, I tested, I looked: give me a speech on Xi Jinping's China in 2023 and I had a pretty smart, well-structured speech in exactly five minutes, where twenty years ago it would have taken me three or four hours to make this speech." And to conclude on the importance of reflecting on the ethics of these technologies. "I think we need to supervise," he insisted.

Potential competitor to Google

ChatGPT appeared in November and was quickly taken over by users impressed by its ability to clearly answer difficult questions, write sonnets or computer code. Funded by the computer giant Microsoft, which has added it to several of its services, it is sometimes presented as a potential competitor to the Google search engine.
