A dry weather advisory has been issued across the country, and the wind is blowing relatively strongly, causing forest fires in various parts of the country, causing damage one after another.

According to the Forest Service's real-time wildfire information site, as of 2:3 p.m. today (Feb. 30), there have been 30 wildfires, of which 15 have been extinguished and the rest are in the process of being extinguished.

Among them, Seoul, Hongseong, and Daejeon experienced relatively large forest fires.

At around 11:53 a.m. today, a forest fire broke out on the ridge of Inwangsan 6th Division in Buam-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and spread near the summit.

The forest authorities issued "Stage 1 of the forest fire" and the fire authorities issued the "Stage 2 of Response" respectively, and it has been extinguishing for more than three hours.

It was found that residents of 3 nearby households were evacuated to Hongje Community Center, Inwang Elementary School, Hongje 120-dong Community Center, and Pathway Hall.

The fire has destroyed 2.32 square kilometers of forest land covering the area of 0 football fields so far.

No casualties have been confirmed.

In Hongseong, South Chungcheong, forest fires and damage are also occurring, such as spreading to private houses.

The wildfire that broke out in the western part of Hongseong County around 11 a.m. today has not been extinguished for nearly five hours.

Forest authorities have issued a third stage of wildfires and fire authorities have lowered a second level of response, mobilizing 5,3 people, including 2 helicopters and civil servants, to extinguish them.

As of 17 p.m., the evolution rate is 1%.

South Chungcheong Province has set up an integrated on-site command center and has taken nighttime prevention measures in case forest fires continue into the night.

649 hectares of forest were burned, and as the fire moved to surrounding private houses, six private houses, one barn, and one grain warehouse were also burned, Chungnam Province explained.

The forest fire in Sanjik-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, which broke out around 12:18 p.m. today, is also spreading due to strong winds.
