A 30-year-old man was shot dead in the night from Friday to Saturday at the end of a car chase near Orleans, police and judicial sources said, confirming information from the Republic of the Center.

The victim was in a vehicle hit by gunfire from a car that had chased him from La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin in the suburbs of Orleans, according to a police source.

Murder investigation opened

The young man was in the back of the chased vehicle, which was riddled with bullets, says the daily. He died a few hours later at the Orleans hospital, where he had been taken by relatives. An investigation for murder has been entrusted to the judicial police of Orleans, confirmed the prosecutor of the Republic Emmanuelle Bochenek-Puren.

Several witnesses, including the passengers of the car, were heard this Saturday by investigators. They did not favor any lead to explain this homicide, according to the deputy director of the judicial police Emmanuel Mericam.
