Sergeant White Sergeant's gun found after 21 years, the truth of that day?

SBS's "I Want to Know" (hereinafter referred to as "The R."), which aired on 1 April, was subtitled "The Gunman and the Knifeman - The Murder of Sergeant Baek in Jeonju," and highlighted Syngman Rhee and Jeonghak, the real culprits in the murder of Sergeant Baek and the murder of the bank robbery in Daejeon.

On September 20, 2002, a terrible thing happened at the Goldam 2 police station in Jeonju. Sergeant Baek, who was working alone at the station, was found dead lying face down right next to a chair.

As a result, an investigation department was hastily set up, and the largest number of personnel was deployed to prevent secondary crimes and arrest criminals. However, despite extensive investigations, the murder of Sergeant Baek remained unsolved.

However, in February, an unexpected letter arrived at the Jeonbuk National Police Agency. Sergeant Baek's pistol was hidden in Ulsan's corner, and a 38-caliber revolver with serial number 4280 was found at the place where the tip was received.

The shocking didn't end there. The sender of the letter was Syngman Rhee, who was arrested after 21 years as the real culprit in the Daejeon bank robbery murder case last year. He also shocked the pistol by claiming that Lee Jeong-hak, an accomplice in the bank robbery murder, killed Sergeant Baek and brought it back to hide it from him.

Syngman Rhee and Jeonghak Lee, who now claim that they shot each other bank employees in the Daejeon bank robbery murder case. They now also quarreled with each other over the allegations of Sergeant Baek's murder.

However, during the interview, the production team learned that the culprits had been caught during the murder of Sergeant Baek. At that time, a trio of so-called runaways who ran away from home and lived in a ruined house. They confessed to accidentally killing Sergeant Baek after an argument broke out while trying to sneak a motorcycle away from the police station.

They later reversed their confession and were released due to insufficient evidence. And the production team noted that one of the trio was a disabled person with a mental illness.

The expert analyzed that the murder of Sergeant Baek appears to be a very clear crime with the purpose of subduing the victim in a short time, given that there are no signs of active defense on the victim and there is no mess around him. In that respect, then, the suspects arrested at the time of the incident did not seem to fit in with such crimes.

As a result, the production team searched the trio and listened to their stories. Of the trio, Park said the reason Cho, who was in the group, was caught was because of hunger. "It was winter, so there wasn't much work in the workshop," he said. At dawn, he went to the restaurant to bring something to eat, but Mr. Cho was caught by the owner and ran away when he heard a beating. But the next day the detectives came and asked where the gun was. I was so embarrassed that I couldn't say anything, and then the assault began."

The assault continued, and he was forced to make a false confession, as did another member of the group, Mr. Kim. Cho and Park were threatened that their sentences would be reduced if they knew the whereabouts of the guns, and the police mentioned Guernsey and had no choice but to admit it.

So I cried, "Please give me the gun" because I was going to be framed. But no matter how much I searched, I couldn't find a gun," he said, expressing his frustration at the time.

The trio said, "I thought I wouldn't be caught for the rest of my life. If we don't get caught forever, we're literally suspects until the day we die. But a gun came out of Ulsan. I haven't even been near Ulsan."

It turns out that the Jeonbuk National Police Agency is currently investigating all the details of Sergeant Paek's murder in utmost secrecy. In particular, they were investigating the possibility that the trio might be the real culprit, and the connection between the trio and Syngman Rhee and Lee Jeong-hak with all possibilities open.

Commenting on Rhee's disclosure of the whereabouts of the gun, the expert said, "If Sergeant Baek's case is Rhee's sole crime, there is a risk that he will confide in the gun and turn it over alone."

And during the on-site verification process at the time of the incident, a number of investigative reporters revealed that they felt uncomfortable. He added that he was told by the owner of the stall who stole the food at the time that he couldn't believe that the missing knife was used for a long time because it was not used, but the sundae was blunt enough not to be sliced, so it was used as a weapon.

The lawyer in charge at the time, who defended the reporter's tip, said that he thought that the trio were not true criminals because they were talking according to the intentions of the person who asked them, even if they were a little scared. And Cho, who was the first of the trio to be arrested, was more convinced that they had nothing to do with the case, confirming that he had a mental illness with lower intelligence than the general population and was even receiving hospital treatment until he ran away from home.

Later, testimony emerged that Park had witnessed the abuse, and the head of the Investigation Section of the Gendarmerie Unit, who led the investigation into Kim, who had joined the army at the time, was told that Kim's alibi was confirmed and the trio was released.

The police claimed that he left the computer on, went to the police station, killed him, and came back to the PC room, but the investigator who visited the game headquarters confirmed the record that Mr. Kim had purchased game items with cyber money at the time of the crime.

The expert analyzed the scars on the white slope and said that it was likely that the weapon used was a gray knife used in the eclipse. So, who is the main culprit between Syngman Rhee and Lee Jeong-hak, who is difficult to distinguish in terms of criminal history and aggression?

Experts also analyzed the timeline of their crimes, suggesting that the murder of Sergeant Baek may have been the result of a subsequent gun theft to steal a cash carrier. There is also an analysis.

"At the very least, it's quite possible that Lee Jung-hak was at the place with Syngman Rhee, that he participated in the crime," the profiler said, "and it's possible that the two attacked together. It looks like Sergeant White was overpowered by someone other than the person in front of him."

If a gunman and a knifeman had stormed into the police station, it would explain why Sergeant Baek was killed without moving a single step even though he was fully armed.

In response, the expert said, "We must investigate the possibility of accomplices. We should not rely solely on their statements, but we need to conduct further and more active investigations, including objective evidence, evidence, third-party statements, and additional alibi checks." He also said that judging from their style of crime, there is a good chance that they may be guilty, and advised that other investigations of female crimes should be carried out together.

Finally, the broadcast said that the investigating authorities should now focus on the second round of Rhee and Lee Jeong-hak's truth game, which began ahead of the Daejeon bank robbery murder appeal hearing. He emphasized that the best

way to comfort the young men who had to live as murder suspects for 21 years and to honor Sergeant Baek's soul is to reveal the real truth through the evidence left on the scene, rather than being buried in the statements of criminals who are accustomed to lies.
