A maniac breaks into a kindergarten for a strange reason

Police in New York have arrested an eccentric man who broke into a children's daycare nursery while it was closing, stealing diapers and baby food and leaving written notes behind suggesting he "wants to be a child."

CBS Iowa quoted police as saying they detained Daniel Seiler, 65, on Feb. 18 shortly after he walked out the back door of the Velick Road Child Care and Education Center.

The station director told police that an employee found $120 with a handwritten note asking if the nursery had oversized diapers and whether staff were willing to cooperate and "have fun with him."

The director said at the time that they immediately called the police when the break-in was discovered and decided to install a surveillance camera.

The director said a similar memo was found, along with $200, and after receiving an alert that the security system had been activated on Saturday morning, the director said she arrived at the center to find someone who had tampered with diapers and boxes for their needs and left another note and money.

She added that the memo included the sizes of trousers, shoes and dresses, noting that the man revealed that he liked to pretend to be a baby girl and that he called himself "Baby Danielle."

After receiving another alert, the director said she called the helpline and saw a surveillance video showing a man playing with diapers and putting them together to make a big one. She said the man entered the bathroom, put on diapers before leaving the building.

She later found out that he had drunk half a bottle of formula, used a baby's bib and stole three diapers.

Tony D'Agostino, the owner of the nursery, said the nursery was cooperating with the investigation and focusing on the safety of the children. He said the center has made changes to increase security, including door locks.
