  • The volume of uncollected waste in Paris, where garbage collectors have been on strike for more than 20 days, was down Sunday with 7,828 tons still pending, but new districts could be affected as early as Monday.

  • A protester is between life and death after violent clashes with the police Saturday in the Deux-Sèvres, whose authorities and organizers deny responsibility amid opposition to a project of water reservoirs.

  • The France "needs" a "firm text against illegal immigration," pleaded Friday the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin, who promised the return "in a few weeks" of his bill, postponed by Emmanuel Macron. On Saturday, a rally was held in Paris to protest against the project.

  • After a ninth day of mobilization on Thursday, during which demonstrators massively took to the streets and despite renewed violence and tensions, the unions continue the showdown with the executive with a new day of action on Tuesday to obtain the withdrawal of the highly contested pension reform. Between 1,089 million demonstrators (Interior) and 3.5 million (CGT) marched in more than 300 cities.

  • Five people have been taken into custody after the arson of the porch of the city hall of Bordeaux during incidents following the demonstration against the pension reform, announced Friday the prosecutor's office. The fire lasted about fifteen minutes Thursday night, damaging the massive wooden door of the building, before being extinguished by firefighters.

  • The Elysee announced Friday the postponement of the state visit of King Charles III in France, the day after a 9th day of demonstrations against the pension reform. French President Emmanuel Macron said Friday he was "at the disposal of the inter-union" to advance "immediately" on working conditions or compensation of employees, but without mentioning a possible pause of his highly contested pension reform.

  • "Horizons is and will remain a member of the majority" but this majority "could work better": at the first congress of his party, Saturday in Vincennes, Edouard Philippe gave guarantees of unity to Emmanuel Macron and Elisabeth Borne, pleading for greater "stability" of the "central bloc".

  • At least 25 people died after devastating tornadoes crossed the southern US state of Mississippi, ripping roofs, smashing cars and razing entire neighborhoods.
