The alert was given at 3:30 am this Friday, March 24. Rennes firefighters were called to a fire that broke out on the Louise-Bourgeois mall, right next to the former Saint-Helier brewery. When rescuers arrived, they discovered the lifeless body of a man in an apartment on the first floor of the building. The 53-year-old victim was taken out of the apartment but could not be saved. The doctor at Samu declared her dead.
Twenty-six firefighters were mobilized for this intervention. The circumstances of the fire are not known at this time. An investigation has been opened by the police.
