750 people were rescued and recovered at sea, during two separate operations, by the personnel and means of the Italian Coast Guard.

In the morning, three Coast Guard patrol boats arrived up to 90 miles off the Ionian coast of Calabria to rescue 295 migrants. In the afternoon the Corsi ship and another patrol boat went up to 100 miles east of Syracuse to recover another 450. All this while the body of the 89th victim of the shipwreck of Cutro of the boat "Summer love" was recovered, sunk with its load of human beings when it was now a short distance from the Crotonese coast.

Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry, with a circular, has invited all prefects to work with Regions and Municipalities for the urgent activation of new centers dedicated to minors who arrive alone: 56 thousand have arrived in the last 3 years.

They were taken to Roccella Ionica. In another operation on a second fishing boat spotted about 100 miles east of Syracuse, about 450 migrants were on board.
