An explosion took place this Wednesday, in the middle of the day, in a building in Uzès (Gard), said the firefighters. The detonation, whose causes are not yet known, resounded in an apartment on the fourth and last floor of the building, occupied on the ground floor by housing and a restaurant.

35 people were evacuated by emergency services and taken to safety. A 30-year-old man, seriously injured, was helicoptered in absolute emergency to the burn department of the University Hospital of Montpellier (Hérault). Two other victims, more slightly injured, were transported to the hospital in Nîmes.

The fire that broke out after the explosion was brought under control by firefighters. Investigations are underway to try to understand what happened.
