Members of Lidl's regional management in Brittany will not be brought to justice. After more than two and a half years of investigation, the prosecutor's office of Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d'Armor) has just closed the file concerning alleged acts of moral harassment and union discrimination within the company. "As it stands, the prosecutor's office makes a final indictment for the purposes of total dismissal considering that there was no serious or concordant evidence justifying the indictment of people placed under the status of assisted witnesses," said Nicolas Heitz, prosecutor of the Republic of Saint-Brieuc, on Wednesday.

The case had started, on July 24, 2020, with the sending of a letter denouncing acts of harassment on the Ploumagoar site near Guingamp where Lidl's regional management is located. Several employees of the German giant had previously complained about the social climate and working conditions within the company, denouncing "an unjustified overload of work" and "daily and repeated bullying, until the work stoppage."

A store manager had committed suicide

Five days later, a preliminary investigation was opened followed by a judicial investigation against X on 5 February 2021. This led to the arrest of ten members of the regional management who were placed in police custody and questioned for ten hours on February 16, 2021. Placed since under the status of assisted witnesses, they all escape an indictment.

Our dossier on harassment
