A family had to wait more than two hours in the cold to bury one of its own at the intercommunal cemetery of Puiseux-Pontoise, on February 23 in Cergy-Pontoise (Val-d'Oise). The cause? The pit where the body was to be buried had not been dug, reveals this Monday La Gazette du Val-d'Oise.

The marble worker had forgotten to dig

"We were flabbergasted," one of the daughters of the deceased, a 70-year-old man, told our colleagues. We were even offered a temporary burial and dig the hole three days later. Refusing this option, the relatives had to attend the operation.

A misunderstanding between the undertakers and their marble worker would be involved. "We had mandated the marble maker, we had done the necessary with him, but he forgot the intervention," regretted the funeral home. A first for this company, which decided to proceed with an invoice discount of 1,552 euros to apologize to the family.
